To show our appreciation, we’ve spent 30 years facilitating large-scale environmental restoration and protection projects. We complete the projects with students, academics, government representatives, industry, and public stakeholders. Click here Research Projects To really commit to restoration and protection, we undertake research of the lakes, streams, rivers, and waterfalls that flow into, and out of, Lake Superior. Our Philosophy: InfoSuperior Research and Information Network is the digital presence for the Remedial Action Plans program in Northern Ontario. We complete large-scale environmental restoration and protection projects, working cross-border for the continued health of our watersheds. Our focus is on community engagement. We identify, and act on, environmental concerns of North Shore residents. Your concerns become conversation, research, action, and results. Our Approach: Community Cooperative effort is what sustains the health and prosperity of Lake Superior. Our grassroots outreach around lakewide communities fosters Communities of Action. We facilitate communication between the stakeholders – public and private – who work together to drive meaningful change on Superior’s shores. Action We hear your concerns, and we’re making strides to tackle them. InfoSuperior has its roots in the Remedial Action Plans (RAP) , which identified environmental threats in Areas of Concern along the North Shore. We’ve spent 30 years restoring and protecting Superior. Our record includes: $25 million dollar cleanup of contaminated sediment in Thunder Bay harbour $9 million dollar state of the art wastewater treatment plant for the Town of Nipigon $7 million dollar mercury contamination cleanup in Marathon’s harbour $65 thousand dollar student-led research project to determine why algae blooms are forming in Cloud Lake $45 thousand dollar project to better understand environmental conditions in area streams a Geomatics” program harnessing environmental data through publicly accessible online maps. Research Protection doesn’t stop at Superior’s shores. As the RAP progressed, so too did our interest in a holistic approach to watershed restoration. We’re evolving from cleanup projects on Superior to research in surrounding lakes and streams. Our team of academics lead the way with research funded by educational and government agencies. Research and results are then presented to residents and communities, who can make informed decisions about how to manage their local watersheds.
